Sitting on the old east shore of Lake Maxinkuckee, The Clemens Vonnegut Jr. House has been rooted in Culver’s rich history since it was built in 1889 “as a summer retreat from the Vonnegut’s residence in Indianapolis,” according to the home’s website. This 3,800 square foot home sleeps 18 adults, 2 toddlers, and 4 more on roll-away beds in 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. Located right on the water, the home boasts “panoramic views of the lake and the Academy from the Great Room, or from the full length porch . . . Working fireplace, Victrola with hundreds of records in collection, Card Tables and a somewhat working upright piano/player piano.”
